Kirk’s life was defined by his love for the outdoors and loyalty to his friends and family. There wasn’t a mountain or stream that he didn’t want to explore or fish. He told stories of being on the river with his Dad and Uncle Al, and later shared his favorite streams with his wife and daughters. He shared duck blinds and fields of pheasants with guys he met over the years of working as an electrician. Whether he was hunting a field with someone or by himself, there was always at least one dog running ahead – a family member and hunting partner. When his daughters got more involved in sports, he traded in the fishing pole and shotgun for a ball cap and catcher’s glove – coaching, catching lessons and shuttling to practices and tournaments. Later, when the grandkids picked up the ball and the bat, Papa watched from the stands with the same smile. Your memory is with us always, but it’s on the field and in the mountains that we know you shine down on us the brightest.
