Lindsey Morris-Elwood

November 24, 1985, living a God-filled life, to November 28, 2010. Lindsey Marie Morris-Elwood, known affectionately by friends and family as “Lindz” fought the good fight with strength and courage.

Lindsey’s battle with brain cancer began at the age of 12, a battle she fought with enormous strength. Although she had some post-treatment physical and cognitive disability, she worked tirelessly to accomplish her goals. The “return of the tumor” occurred just months after getting engaged to the love of her life, Greg Elwood, and her dreams of marriage, teaching, and having a family were shattered.

While angry at first, Lindsey quickly refocused her time left on earth to reaching out to those she loved and cared about. Her smile was forever unbelievably beautiful. She was more worried about those she was leaving behind then she was about herself. Lindsey was kind, compassionate, and a giving young woman who simply loved to love others, especially children.

Lindsey’s faith was her anchor throughout her life. She enjoyed all the activities in the church, especially youth groups and summer camps. She spent many summers as a counselor at the United Methodist’s Wilderness Camp in Lawson, MO. She loved being teaching about faith and being a good Christian. She taught through her words but especially by her example. Lindsey’s smile and warm embrace would light up a room. Her laughter was joyful and full of purpose.

Lindsey… we miss everything about you. The family hopes that through the efforts of organizations such as Head for the Cure and the Stowers Institute of Medical Research that a cure will be found for this awful disease that swept you away from us way too soon.
