Mark Helm

Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, and friend Mark Daniel Helm took his last breath on January 31, 2017. Mark fought a hard and courageous battle against brain cancer for over 14 years and has achieved his well-deserved rest. Mark was born June 14, 1979 in Smithville, Missouri. He grew up in Smithville exploring the outdoors, playing with his sisters, and being active in sports. He married the love of his life, Valerie Flury, on June 22, 2002. They welcomed their precious daughter Leah Renee in 2007 and darling son Alexander Emmet in 2010. Mark’s life focused on his love of family, the outdoors, reading, and working with wood. Mark worked as a business systems analyst for Press Ganey. Mark has joined in rest his grandmother Dorothy Boydston Woods, grandmother Dorothy Greer Helm, grandparents Tom and Carol Helm, and great-grandparents Herman and Mary Helm. Mark ‘s love continues in the lives of Valerie, Leah, and Alex. His love also survives in his parents Dan & Valerie Helm, sister Janie Helm, sister Heather Mecham (Shane), sister Karen Monks (Drew) and nieces and nephews Lucas & Amira Mecham, Bobbi Monks, Izack and Ayden Flury along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 4 at EH Executive Hills Polo Club, 10018 NW Skyview Ave, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. with the service at 12:30. During the celebration, there will be an opportunity to share, and the family would appreciate hearing your memories. In lieu of flowers, Mark would have wanted donations to Head for the Cure Brain Tumors Trials Collaborative. Remember that we continue to be are In This Together.
