Michael Phillips

Michael Phillips was a brave and proud US Marine, a great son, brother and friend. When he was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme in the fall of 2014, Michael faced the challenges ahead of him with a courage and positivity that has since remained a comfort and inspiration to those who love him. Shortly after Michael was diagnosed with GBM, he told his mother “I can handle cancer, but I can’t handle not being a Marine.” He faced every challenge head on, often comforting and reassuring other when times were tough. He remained positive and hopeful throughout his entire battle. Through his time in the service, Michael was blessed with opportunities to see much of the world, including places in Africa, Europe and Asia. In his 30 years of life, he was able to experience a lifetime of travel. On June 16th, 2015, Michael was called home to Heaven and is now happy and at peace. Michael is greatly loved and missed and many of his family and friends will be honoring his memory this year by participating in the Omaha Head for the Cure 5k.
