December 16, 1952, John and Florence welcomed a daughter into this world and gave her the wonderful name of Nyra Ann. Over the next 24 years Nyra excelled in life, education, making valued friendships, but most of all, enjoying and loving her family, which included sisters Collette Dukewich and Pam Faires.
On June 19, 1976, she took that love of family and gave David Potemra the honor of taking her hand and heart in marriage.
On July, 25, 1980, we welcomed our son, Brandon Potemra, into our family and have had the pleasure watching him grow into the best son, husband, and father. Brandon, his wife Jacynda Griego, and adorable daughter Gwendolyn, have given Nyra and David great pleasure and wonderful memories to cherish.
On December 14, 1983, our Lord blessed us with a beautiful baby girl, Kacy Lynn. As time passed, Kacy picked up many of her mom’s traits which included reading, sewing, crafts and teaching. Most importantly was the trait of motherhood, which Kacy Potemra Young had the privilege to put to use when she had her first son, Bentley, and again when she had second son, Brody.
In 2006, Nyra had the pleasure of watching Kacy get married, and again in 2016 when Brandon got married.
Nyra’s greatest joy was being Gram to her three amazing grandchildren: Bentley, Brody, and Gwendolyn. She loved playing games, reading books, and doing crafts with them. Each of them has their own unique personality which we loved watching develop.
Nyra had a vast community of friends, whether childhood or lifetime, whom she loved staying in touch with as much as humanly possible. She was a friend and mentor to so many.
On Friday, December 3, 2021, which is her mom Florence’s birthday, Nyra was taken home to eternal life in heaven by our Lord, with an assist by her mom. For over twenty-two months, Nyra fought a hard battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumors. The last tumor discovered in June of 2021 was very aggressive and eventually took her from us.
Nyra Potemra and David Potemra have spent the past 45+ years loving each other, loving their children and their children’s families. He will miss her and love her forever. His life partner and wife is gone and nothing will be the same again, except for the love of their children. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
