In Remembrance

Stephen Payne

This memorial is written in honor of the first man I ever loved, my daddy, Stephen Douglas Payne. In most recent years he was challenged time and time again health wise. In 2008 a benign pituitary tumor, renal cell carcinoma in 2011 and glioblastoma multiforme in 2014. Dad was diagnosed with GBM in May of 2014 after suffering from severe headaches and ultimately a seizure. He went through a craniotomy right away and then started a rigorous regimen of different chemotherapies and radiation shortly there after. He fought GBM with as much strength as he had. He loved his children and grandchildren more than anything else on this earth and wanted so badly to be here to watch them grow. Unfortunately for us, the Lord called him home at the age of 61, on 11/25/14. Daddy was the epitome of a southern gentlemen. A Christian who’s light shined so bright, there wasn’t one person who met him that didn’t fall in love with his kind eyes and gentle heart immediately. Brain cancer research and helping those who have been effected by it is something that I feel strongly about now after dad’s passing.
