Susan Craven

Susan Marks Hopkins Craven was diagnosed nearly three years ago with grade 4 glioblastoma, and lost her battle Thursday, August 5, 2015. Her family and friends admired her for the courage and dignity with which she fought this devastating disease. Susan never lost her positive attitude, never complained nor questioned why me. Her only concern was for the toll it was taking on her devoted and loving husband. Susan dedicated her life to her family, and to advocating for children. She graduated from WB Ray High School in Corpus Christi and Mills College in California. She served on the CCISD School Board, was appointed to Texas Governor White’s Select Committee, she was part of Leadership Texas, along with Ann Richards, and was the Executive Director of Texans Care for Children and Texas Association of Infant Mental Health. She was a founder of public radio in Corpus Christi, Texas. Susan loved to travel, loved to be surrounded by people, and set an incredible standard of excellence to all around her. She is survived by her husband, sister, son, twin daughters, three grandsons, granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, and incredible friends.
