Tricia Hinton

Our mom Tricia grew up Irish catholic in a family of seven girls. She was the kind of person who would prove you wrong if you told her she couldn’t do something, and at the same time she had compassion as wide as the sea. It was this determination and compassion that helped her graduate from Iowa State with a degree in engineering, start an infant loss support group, fight on behalf of children as a guardian ad litem, teach over a hundred children to swim, and give her heart to mission trips to Russia. Ultimately this would be the same determination and compassion she would need to fight her brain cancer so fearlessly. For five and a half years she consistently destroyed the pre-determined timelines given to her. She fought for time with her husband, her children, and grandchildren. She didn’t give up because giving up was never an option she considered. We will forever remember long days spent swimming in the back yard, endless cups of nana juice and an m&m jar that was never empty. The time we had was such a gift, and not one minute of her days was wasted. Her memory lives on in each of the lives she touched
