11th Annual HFTC – Metro KC Thank You!

Dear Head for the Cure supporter,

Thank you for helping make the 11th annual Head for the Cure 5K Run & Walk – Metro Kansas City the biggest and best yet.

It was a sun-filled, perfect morning for our 5K run/walk and the celebration of hope for brain cancer patients and their families, friends and supporters. There was a record turnout of more than 5,000 runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and well wishers — most participating on one of the nearly 200 Head for the Cure teams supporting a loved one affected by brain cancer.

The Head for the Cure Team Village and the entire event venue at Corporate Woods was abuzz with activity throughout the morning. We hope everyone enjoyed our featured band, She’s A Keeper, as they crossed the finish line. And special thanks for the unmatched support from our sponsors, food providers and merchants who kept everyone well-nourished and hydrated throughout the morning, including Advanced Chiropractic and Rehab and The Walking Company

Congratulations to the overall winners Cecilia Benton (18:17) and Geovanni Papoca (16:11), masters winners JoAnn Shipps (20:17) and Rick Garey (17:19), and everyone who participated.

Your race results are available here. Photos from the event can be viewed here. Please take a moment to provide any feedback you may have on the event by completing our quick survey.

Eight extraordinary people were recognized as 2013 Keeping the Faith recipients: Tara Beller (Nutt), Brian Ebbitts, Allie Fisher, Phyllis Franz, Kimbra Glynn, Paula Larson, Cris Sigler, and Pete Townley. These people represent the essence of Head for the Cure. Each of their stories is personal and special, and all are inspiring. And they illustrate why we keep pushing to grow our cause every year — to raise awareness and funding in the fight against brain cancer.

The Head for the Cure Foundation extends our most sincere appreciation to each and every person who helped make the 11th Annual Head for the Cure 5k- Metro KC so successful. More than $375,000 was generated in conjunction with last Sunday’s event, and awareness of the need for brain cancer research has grown exponentially.

Thanks to the participation and support of thousands of caring individuals, the hard work of hundreds of volunteers and the generous contributions of dedicated sponsors and donors, together we are defeating brain cancer step by step.

Sincerely,

Head for the Cure Foundation
