Each year, teams participate in our annual Head for the Cure 5K – Charleston. Team Tanner participates to celebrate Bobby Tanner’s story and courageous battle with brain cancer. By participating in this event, you are helping fund research and programs to support the brain tumor community. Learn more about Team Tanner below!
This cause is extremely special to our team – our family – because we want to honor Bobby Tanner as well as others that we love that have fought this disease. We are doing such a small thing to fight brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Charleston on February 15, 2020.
Bobby was diagnosed in May 2019 and is ongoing treatments at home, in Simpsonville, SC, as well as traveling to MUSC in Charleston. He is the head of our family, who has a love of horses, history, and his family. He has so many who love him – his family, friends, neighbors, and countless members of the team roping community he has been a part of for many years. We also choose to honor Jimmy Jewell, Bobby’s brother-in-law, and Bill Hembree, a sweet friend’s father who we have lost to this disease.
There are many ways you can be a part of this fight. Join our team in Charleston, or register as a virtual racer to run or walk on your own. You may also donate to help us reach our goal.
The biggest request we have is that you say a prayer for Bobby and others that are in their own fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step! Thank you for reading this!
Love from all of us at Team Tanner!
