A big THANK YOU for another tremendous Head for the Cure 5K event

On behalf of the Head for the Cure Foundation, thank you for your part in the enormously successful 9th Annual Head for the Cure 5K – Metro KC.

A picture-perfect day was the backdrop to another record-setting year with more than 4,500 runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and well wishers — many participating as a member of one of the 127 different Head for the Cure teams supporting a family member or friend affected by brain cancer.

It was wonderful to see all the smiles and celebrations happening throughout the Team Village and across the event venue all morning long. We were so fortunate to have such fantastic support from our sponsors, ensuring everyone was well fed and hydrated!

Congratulations to the overall winners —Overall Male Caleb Teague (15:24), Overall Female Caroline Lynn (19:22), Master’s Male Marvin Mastin (17:57) and Master’s Female Kristin May (21:14) — and to everyone who participated. Your race results are available here. You can also view and download free photos from the event.

Four extraordinary people were recognized as 2011 Keeping the Faith Award recipients — Lindsey Alldredge, Susan Beymer, Leonard Purvis and Clayton Trysla. These people represent the essence of what Head for the Cure is all about. Their stories are each personal and special, and all are inspiring. And they’re the reason we keep pushing to grow our cause every year — to raise awareness and raise funds in the fight against brain cancer.

The Head for the Cure Foundation sends along our most sincere appreciation to each and every person who helped make the ninth installment of our signature event so successful. More than $325,000 was raised through the 2011 Metro KC Head for the Cure 5K, and awareness about the need for brain cancer research has grown exponentially.

Mark your calendar for what will be our most spectacular event yet – the 10th anniversary of Head for the Cure 5K – Metro KC – Sunday, August 26, 2012.

And please remember to check our site for future event information and other news from the Head for the Cure Foundation. Of course, we also continue to accept donations.

Thanks to the support of thousands of caring individuals, the hard work of hundreds of volunteers and the generous contributions of dedicated sponsors and donors, we are defeating brain cancer step by step!

Sincerely,

Matt Anthony
Chairman, Head for the Cure Foundation
