Timing Chips

If you do not want to be timed, please make sure to leave your timing chip in one of the provided buckets at Packet Pickup. If you are being timed, these chips will be collected at the finish line or you can drop them off at the Registration tent race day.

As a nonprofit with the goal of raising money for our cause, we really need to make sure we get all the timing chips back so we don’t have to pay for the lost ones. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN YOUR TIMING CHIPS SO WE CAN KEEP OUR COSTS DOWN AND RAISE MORE MONEY FOR BRAIN CANCER RESEARCH!

Race Day Parking

Please try to arrive early for the best parking experience. You may enter Corporate Woods from Antioch or College Boulevard and make your way towards Building 40 (9401 Indian Creek Parkway).

Please remember that the course will be closed to traffic once the event is underway, so plan to arrive early to avoid congestion.

Race Day Schedule

7:00 a.m. Race Day Registration and Check In
8:00 a.m. Head for the Cure 5K – Metro KC Starts (walkers start a few minutes later with an official start)
9:00 a.m. Head for the Cure Kids’ Run (50-yard dash in the grass)
9:30 a.m. Awards Ceremony

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON RUNNING THE COURSE, please line up behind the Starting Line before the event starts at 8 a.m. There will be some special announcements and the singing of the National Anthem. and we will have Meryl Engle as our honorary starter this year. Meryl made the largest single donation to Head for the Cure earlier this year when she recruited her uncle Jim Engle to build a home wtih the support of his contractors/subcontractors and donate the proceeds ($57,375!) to Head for the Cure.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON WALKING THE COURSE, please feel free to mingle in the Team Village area up until race time and you will be able to start a few minutes after the run gets underway. Kris Campbell, who is a longtime Head for the Cure supporter and seven-year brain tumor survivor leading Team Kris Campbell, will be be our honorary starter for the walkers.

IF YOUR CHILDREN ARE PLANNING PARTICIPATING IN THE KIDS’ RUN, please have them over on the grassy area directly north of Building 40 around 9:15 a.m. for a dash in the grass. This run is designed for the younger set who may be too young to complete a 5K. All participants will receive a Head for the Cure ribbon.

And don’t forget to stick around for the Awards Ceremony at 9:30. Before we recognize the top runners, we take time to honor the very important people for whom Head for the Cure exists – those currently in their own battles with brain cancer. The struggles and triumphs of our Keeping the Faith award recipients are even more poignant when shared with everyone race day as we pay tribute to what they have survived and what lies ahead for them. Please join us for this moving and inspirational presentation!
