Team Captain FAQs

Having a team at the Head for the Cure 5K can be a rewarding way to show your support for a loved one fighting brain cancer or a uniqute tribute to someone who has succumbed to the disease. You can learn more about forming a team here.

We started using a new registration system in 2012, which we hope will make your experience setting up your teams and fundraising much easier than in the past.

One of the biggest changes is that instead of registering and creating your team and then publishing a fundraising page, you now will create two separate teams – one for participation at the event and one for fundraising.

Also, because this is a new registration system you will need to create a new user name and password; the ones you’ve used in the past will not work.

Below are the most commonly asked questions (and answers) for your convenience as a Head for the Cure Team Captain.

Head for the Cure looks forward to seeing all the teams out in force on race day!

How can I get someone’s name listed in the “in honor of” section?

Simply send an email with a name, and we will get it added right away.

If someone selects the name in the “in honor of” section, does it put them on my team?

No, it only signifies that the person registering is participating in honor of someone.

To register for a team, the individual must select “I would like to join a team” during online registration. Your team name will only appear after you have created it.

What if someone who is already registered wants to be on my team?

Simply send an email, and we will add that person to your team.

I want to pick up my team members packets at team packet pickup, but I’m not sure I selected that option when I signed up.

No problem. Just send an email if you would like to pick up your team members’ packets.

Please understand that we cannot split team members packets up – you can either pick them all up or have your team members pick up their own packets.

Team Packet Pickup will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24th at the Ward Parkway Shopping Center.

Will we be able to decorate signs again this year for our teams?

Yes! You can pick up your blank sign at Team Packet Pickup on Friday, Aug. 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., decorate it and bring it back race day to the Team Village. Volunteers will place your sign along the last section of the course.

How do I publish my team’s fundraising page?

Both individual and team fundraising pages are published immediately upon completing the fundraising registration, since the registration now has a majority of your fundraising page settings. You can create your fundraising team here.

More advanced tasks, such as uploading photos to your page or e-mailing potential donors, can be accomplished using the Manage Fundraising Page links on your profile’s My Events page.

How do I download team reports through team fundraising page?

Unfortunately, this feature does not yet exist in the new system, except that fundraising team members are listed on the team fundraising page.

You should receive an email each time someone joins your participation team (if you select that option when you create your participation team). Until the new feature is available, please let us know if you need us to pull a list of your team members.

Someone on my team says they made a donation, but it’s not appearing on my fundraising page.

Donations should be made through your team fundraising link (provided to you when you create your fundraising team) to ensure that the donations are directed to your team specifically.

If you would like to have a donation moved over to your team, please send an email and we can move it for you.

How do I nominate someone for a Keeping the Faith award?

You may submit a nomination through our website – http://www.headforthecure.org/node/add/keeping-faith – by Aug. 13th. Keeping the Faith awards recognize the personal stories of those in the midst of their fight with brain cancer. It is an important part of the awards ceremony as we pay tribute to what they have survived and what lies ahead of them. We award five individuals at the event each year.
